Howard Coad School, which opened in 1958, is a wonderful gem set in the heart of Saskatoon's Mount Royal neighbourhood. We are a prekindergarten to Grade 8 school boasting respectful students and a dedicated, kind and caring staff. We offer a variety of programs geared toward helping students learn and grow in a warm and supportive environment. In our
prekindergarten and
kindergarten programs, one can expect our little ones to be joyfully learning, exploring and playing under the direction of a kind and loving teacher and educational assistant.
With just over two hundred students, we are a small school with an abundance of school spirit. Our weekly assemblies focus on both academic and extracurricular achievement with the goal of solidifying a culture of acceptance and distinction at Howard Coad School. Literacy continues to be a strong focus for us throughout the grade levels. Our resource room team also does wonders with our students to provide additional educational support where needed. We model the maxim that together we are better!
At Howard Coad, we enjoy many student-centred activities such as basketball, volleyball, track, student leadership, art and cultural activities, all of which make us immensely proud. We are a
Nutrition Positive school and provide Child Hunger and Education Program (CHEP) lunches, as well as a breakfast and milk program, for those who would like to take advantage of this service.
Our music education program is well established with our students fully engaged in a rich, diverse classroom that includes instruction in drumming, flute making, Orff and singing. Students in grades 6 to 8 also have the additional benefit of participating in band classes.
We are proud of our
English as an Additional Language classroom, which provides English language support to children (grades 2 to 8) who need assistance in improving their proficiency in English. Our school also has a shared school counsellor,
Dream Broker and an Intermediate Balance (Phoenix) program. All programs at Howard Coad School provide valuable assistance to our students and families.
