About Our School

Brunskill School is a kindergarten to Grade 8 elementary school located just three blocks south of the University of Saskatchewan campus. Opened in 1951, our school was named after William Cy Brunskill, a dedicated member of the Saskatoon Public School Board for 28 years. In 2000, the school was renovated, and it is a comfortable and safe facility in which to learn.

We have approximately 480 students enrolled in our school. Brunskill is staffed with approximately 30 teachers, 15 educational assistants, a building operator, an administrative assistant, a vice principal and a principal. With other Saskatoon Public Schools, we share the services of a speech language pathologist, school psychologist and school counsellor.* The Brunskill staff is committed to inspiring, leading and teaching our students so they may develop into kind citizens of the world who are proficient life-long learners.

Brunskill School has a special feeling about it. We attract families from all over the world and families from all over the city, with 60% of our families living out of area. Many parents who choose to send their children to Brunskill work at Royal University Hospital, the University of Saskatchewan or related science and technology centres in Saskatoon. We boast a diverse population, as some of our parents are, themselves, international students working or studying at the university. Our job as a staff is to create a warm, welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels like they are part of our school family.

Our regular academic programming includes full-day and alternating-day Kindergarten, Grades 1 to 8 classes, and band for Grades 6 to 8. We also have two resource teachers who specialize in programming for students with intensive needs or literacy support needs. BGC Saskatoon offers before and after school care for our families.

Brunskill offers numerous extracurricular activities. Some activities include cross country running, volleyball, basketball, indoor track, loom knitting, choir, Student Leadership Club, and outdoor track and field. We also offer an intramural program for students in Grades 6 to 8.

Welcome to our school. We hope you are proud to say, “I’m part of the Brunskill School Family!” Together we roar!

*Note:  While we are located next to the Saskatchewan Health Region’s Kinsmen Children’s Center, we do not offer additional therapies through their programs.
